me being me

Style: Poetry

Statement: I wanted to write this piece to illustrate how we can compare ourselves to one another without an end. However, we never know the true circumstances of another person or what they're insecure about. I think we all need to grow as people and stop comparing ourselves to others so we can finally love ourselves.

beautiful blonde hair

bland black hair

bright blue eyes

boring brown eyes

surrounded by all

accompanied by none

seen the world

never gone beyond town

she has it all

I witness silently

she holds his hand

I hold my own

she waves goodbye

I remain watching

she breaks her smile

I watch from afar

she begins to cry

and then I realize

she doesn't have it all

and I dont have nothing

we all have our fears, our

struggles

our goals, our hopes

you are you

I am me

I am completely okay

with being me
