Streams of Consciousness

Style: Oil Painting.

Statement: Stream of consciousness is a literary technique often used in modern literature to portray the inner workings of a character’s mind. I enjoy reading literature that are composed of the author’s stream of consciousness because it involves the narrator’s inner thoughts being presented in a “stream” of words and images that flow naturally, without interruption or logical order. When I started creating this piece, I did not have any plans or ideas. Instead, I started by laying blocks of color on the blank canvas and going with the flow. I used this painting to portray the chaotic nature of the mind as the thoughts move rapidly and often without any clear direction.
