PAST WORK
Ripple Effect
Medium: acrylic paint, construction paper, cardboard Statement: In "Ripple effect," I use two spiraling self-portraits with familiar objects to convey a sense of identical duality. The piece is irregular, rippling into 3 dimensions, exposed cardboard reminding the viewer of the physical constructs behind the abstract work.

Flying Away
Medium: Acrylic Paint Statement: This self portrait conveys how I feel parts of myself “flying away” due to academic overload. The main subject (the figure) is shown to be flying away like scraps of paper, illustrating the feeling of losing myself in part of studying and schoolwork. In the surreal concept and composition, the body of the figure is shown to be sinking into an ocean, representing how I feel “sinking in work”.

Whispers of the Rockies
Medium: Photography Statement: This photograph captures a secluded corner of Banff, Canada, where jagged peaks rise sharply against a restless sky, and a serene lake mirrors the drama above. I was drawn to the interplay of light and shadow across the mountains, the reflective water, and the rugged foreground stones, which together create a sense of depth and stillness amid grandeur. The image reflects my fascination with the quiet intensity of nature—the moments when the la

Family
Medium: Acrylic Paint Statement: This painting depicts my father and my cousin during a family trip to Hawaii, capturing a quiet exchange between two generations. I wanted to show the warmth and tenderness of their connection through light, color, and expression. However simple, it reflects the unspoken bonds between family. This piece is about finding beauty in everyday interactions and the love they quietly convey.

Wading
Medium: Photography Statement: “Wading” is a photo I took on a trip during the summer showing childlike innocence and a father’s love. Three figures are placed in the center of the composition, a father and his two daughters. The light falls deliberately on the father’s guiding hand, emphasizing the theme of parental care. The shadowed slipway in the foreground acts as a natural frame, guiding the eye toward the figures and intensifying the sense of joy.

Vortex
Medium: Photography Statement: “Vortex” captures a flowering bush through an unconventional approach. Unlike traditional photographs that present flowers in sharp detail, this piece uses intentional camera movement and a slow shutter speed to create a dynamic effect. The swirling blur draws the viewer’s eye inward, as if being pulled toward the center. This aggressive, energetic style transforms a familiar subject into something unfamiliar, inviting viewers to see flowers fr

Curiosity
Medium: Photography Statement: "Curiosity" is a spider peeking out from a behind group of white flowers, inspiring the name I gave this piece. The scared spider quickly hid behind the flowers after the photo was taken.

In the Greenhouse
Medium: Acrylic Paint Statement: Greenhouses have always fascinated me — although it's contained by four walls, all the rich verdant hues and leaves of every shape and size shine brilliantly in its own pocket of sunshine. It’s as if the translucent walls melt into watercolors of the outside reality when the warm sunshine paints everything in a golden glow. Bright blues and greens are highlighted with tones of yellow that warm the canvas. I wanted to immortalize the vibrance o

Endless Nowhere
Medium: Photoshop Statement: Nothing feels colder than the snow sinking through a thick cotton coat and soaking into the bone. Stranded during a skiing incident and sitting on a mountain surrounded by blankets of white, I looked up to see the vast sky as a grey mess. In this moment, nature seemed to emulate the harshness of industrial metallic facades. Endless Nowhere seeks to visualize that vast feeling of cold loneliness through hazy watercolor-like washes of white and blue

Loner
Medium: Photography Statement: By the Santa Barbara beach, “Loner” portrays a solitary figure standing at the shoreline. The essence of this piece lies in the contrast between the vastness of the world and the smallness of the individual within it. The dawn sky and reflective water create a harmonious palette, as soft blues blend seamlessly into pinks and yellows. This composition emphasizes the feeling of human fragility and scale, reminding us how small a single person can

Lost But Found
Medium: water mixable oil paint Statement: The main figure of the girl is shown to be looking up in a gloomy background contrasted with the bright-hued lighting. The background of the red branches and berries “blend in” to her face like veins of blood, conveying how she is affected by her environment and dragged down by it. However, she gazes at the three birds that symbolizes hope, inner peace, and opportunities in hard times. Painting something gloomy but hopeful at the sam

The Weight of Water
Medium: Photography Statement: It captures a moment of solitude beneath the surface, where light and shadow converge in silence. Its dramatic contrast evokes a sense of isolation and introspection when confronted by both beauty and fear.

Dream on Wheels
Medium: Acrylic Paint Statement: I dream of moments where my sister and I are sitting in the backseat of our small family car. We’re laughing, joking, and making funny faces as scenery whizzes past us, carefree and at peace. Dreams don’t have to be grand; rather, it’s the simple, seemingly ordinary moments that guide us to what really matters and help us attain fulfillment in our lives. Sometimes the most beautiful dreams are the ones that can be achieved in the smallest corn
